CVs and Covering letters

A CV is a marketing document in which you are marketing yourself! You need to "sell" your skills, abilities, qualifications and experience to employers. It can be used to make multiple applications to employers in a specific career area. If you are applying for different roles and general occupations that require various skills, it is common practice to create more than one.

Drawing on a survey of employers, the following aspects of the CV were highlighted as the most looked for on a CV:

•        Previous related work experience

•        Qualifications & skills

•        Easy to read

Some employers may spend as little as 45 seconds skimming a CV before branding it “not of interest”, “maybe” or “of interest.
